SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for specialized graphing software for creating fine structure diagrams, as traditional graphic software is deemed slow and inflexible. User "valleyman" suggests using "gnuplot" for drawing diagrams, but acknowledges its limitations for this specific task. The consensus indicates a demand for dedicated tools that can efficiently handle atomic structure diagrams, similar to those used by authors in scientific literature.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of fine structure diagrams and atomic structures
  • Familiarity with graphing software capabilities
  • Basic knowledge of scientific illustration standards
  • Experience with software like gnuplot
NEXT STEPS
  • Research specialized software for atomic structure diagrams, such as ChemDraw or Avogadro
  • Explore advanced features of gnuplot for scientific graphing
  • Learn about LaTeX packages for creating scientific diagrams
  • Investigate user reviews and comparisons of graphing tools for scientific applications
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, educators, and students in the fields of chemistry and physics who require efficient tools for creating fine structure diagrams and atomic representations.

hey I was trying to draw some fine structure diagrams like this one

but it is too slow and unflexible with normal graphic softwares. Does anyone know a good graphing software *expecifically* designed for atom structure diagrams like the above one?
Thanks, valleyman

If u just want to draw the diagram, knowing all the positions, then u can try "gnuplot".

well I have to make many diagrams and gnuplot - as it's not made for this - would be slower and harder than simple graphic softwares so I think it's not the correct way to do this. I'm looking for some *specialized* program for this kind of graphs, maybe the one that the books' authors use to make these diagrams in their books
