He's definitely not banned, just very unhappy right now. Our committee has not been able to contact him to discuss his complaint in more detail. He is so far not responding to our DMs and direct e-mails.

My experience is similar to Fresh42's. In the short time I've been on PF, I've only posted two threads with my own questions.

It wasn't a positive experience, the threads were cancelled. When I tried to talk to someone appropriate, I noticed two things: 1- they didn't take me or my questions seriously, 2- the mods protect each other.

My reaction was along the lines of, "This has been a waste of time, delete everything that involves me and let's pretend I was never here..."

I simply let time pass, forced to do so by having been "sanctioned." I decided not to post any more threads with my own questions and to modify my communication style to be shorter and less assertive.


P.S: If anyone is expecting a positive moral at the end, there isn't one. That's all.

I was having a really bad day and my energy when replying to the warning thread was overboard. I regret it. I hope fresh returns. I take the blame.

• Know who did whatever it was to my post (rare except for Berkeman)
• What was wrong with it.
• Sometimes I get a post removed and have no idea what it was because sometimes I make a lot of them.
• It would be nice to argue things (because I like to argue), but I can understand why this would be an considered an undesirable waste of time by the controllers.

I think some of these are among Fresh's issues.
The first two are the most important to me.

It's # 3 for me.
Sometimes I'll go back and remove my posts the day after, looking at it saying to myself; "You shouldn't post when your blood sugar is low."
But, before deleting, I'll copy and paste into my diary.
I do the same on Facebook and other social media platforms.

There was an issue with your questions most likely. You can always DM the mentor in question and they will get back to you and explain the issue.

That’s actually a very good point.

I deleted my post as @fresh_42 ’s privacy is his own and none of my business to interfere with.

Not the letter as such but perhaps the spirit? Anyway what I wrote was over the line and that’s why I deleted it.

I agree with Greg, this thread is not meant to offend Fresh42, Greg himself has used it to apologize.

Still, as for me, I came in late without really knowing what was going on, and as such should've had enough social etiquette to stay out of it. Which I will now do. Regardless how much I agree with @fresh_42 and how much I enjoy discussing with him.

I would be sorry to see him go though. For whatever that's worth.

I said that if I was already angry with PF, this thread would would make me angrier. Given everthing that the moderators delete, this thread feels like a violation of privacy. I say this as a person who has taken breaks after disagreements with moderators.

We all want @fresh_42 back.

I agree with @Frabjous here. It may be well meant, but the possibility for misunderstanding is perhaps not worth it.

EDIT: And then I couldn't keep my trap shut after all. *sigh*.
