Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the concept of generating artificial gravity in spaceships, particularly focusing on methods that do not involve rotation or linear acceleration. Participants explore theoretical and speculative ideas related to gravity in the context of space travel, including references to microgravity and potential research avenues.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants question the nature of gravity in spaceships that are not rotating or accelerating, seeking clarity on the topic.
  • One participant suggests that the gravity experienced inside a spaceship is due to the same gravitational forces acting on it in orbit, implying a connection between orbital mechanics and perceived gravity.
  • Another participant expresses a desire for the original poster to clarify their thoughts on gravity, indicating a need for more focused discussion.
  • A speculative concept is introduced regarding the generation of 1g artificial gravity using 'quantum accelerators,' which does not rely on traditional methods like rotation or acceleration.
  • Concerns are raised about the appropriateness of speculative ideas within the forum's mission, leading to a closure of the thread.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the methods for generating artificial gravity, and multiple competing views and questions remain unresolved throughout the discussion.

Contextual Notes

Some limitations in the discussion include a lack of detailed definitions and assumptions regarding gravity, as well as the speculative nature of proposed concepts without established theoretical backing.

What are YOUR thoughts? What is your question? What research have you done on this?

Welcome to PF.

The same gravity that is accelerating the spaceship in its orbit or trajectory, will be accelerating the contents of the spaceship, and you, at the same rate.

We certainly wouldn't want him to do any thinking on his own.
He is new here, so I am being lenient. That OP question will need to be refined, and that will take some thinking. Maybe we will find out why the question was asked, and what the question should have been, by which time the answer will be obvious.

I too would like to hear Willie Oz expound a little bit on what thoughts he has on gravity - presumably, he's thinking about either artificial gravity or microgravity or both. But I beseech him for clarity.

I haven’t done anything about it, i am just curious, I am trying to find out if someone is investigating to create a 1g gravitational field that doesn’t include rotating or accelerating speed

I m exploring a speculative concept for generating 1g artificial gravity in spacecraft — not using rotation or linear acceleration — but through what I’m loosely calling ‘quantum accelerators.’ I’d love feedback or constructive criticism from people more grounded in GR/QFT

That is not what this forum is for - please take a look at the forum mission statement in the rules.
