SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the feasibility of generating electricity from the electromagnetic force (EMF) induced in an airplane's wings due to the Earth's magnetic field. Participants explored the principles of electromagnetic induction and the application of the formula phi = BA, where B represents the magnetic field and A the area. Additionally, the conversation addressed the limitations of voltage adjustment in DC generators, emphasizing the fixed nature of their output voltage under specific conditions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electromagnetic induction principles
  • Familiarity with the formula phi = BA in physics
  • Knowledge of DC generator operation and characteristics
  • Basic concepts of electric fields and forces
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of electromagnetic induction in aviation contexts
  • Study the operation and design of DC generators
  • Explore the effects of Earth's magnetic field on electrical systems
  • Learn about alternative energy generation methods in aviation
USEFUL FOR

Aerospace engineers, electrical engineers, physics students, and anyone interested in renewable energy generation in aviation.

Throughout the journey of an aeroplane flight, the magnetic field of the Earth will induce and electro motive force in the wings. Is it possible to generate electricty from this EMF?

Also I am wondering when to use sin or cos.. for the formula phi = BA

Why can't the voltage in a DC generator be changed?
