Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew if there are programs like Perimeter Scholars International for mathematics (rather than largely physics)?
The discussion centers on the comparison between Perimeter Scholars International (PSI) and Cambridge's Mathematical Tripos Part III. While both programs are intensive and cover similar material, they differ significantly in structure and assessment methods. PSI employs short, intensive modules with coursework-based assessment, whereas Part III follows a traditional term schedule with exam-based assessments. The emphasis on student interaction at PSI contrasts with the independent study approach of Part III, highlighting the unique educational philosophies of each program.
PREREQUISITESGraduate students in mathematics, academic advisors, and educators seeking to understand the differences in graduate program structures and assessment methods.
That's a pretty frivolous comparison. There are plenty of one-year taught Master's programs at many institutions. That aspect of both PSI and Part III is completely unremarkable.Typical Masters programs take 2 years with concurrent courses and research spread out over the 2 years similar to undergraduate course taking.
