Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around understanding the mechanics of a grandfather clock's pendulum and its timing mechanism, specifically whether it takes 2θ or 4θ to complete one second.

Discussion Character

  • Conceptual clarification, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster seeks clarification on the relationship between the pendulum's oscillation and the time it takes to complete one second, questioning whether it refers to one complete oscillation or half. Other participants discuss the influence of clock size on the timing mechanism.

Discussion Status

Participants are exploring different interpretations of the pendulum's timing in relation to clock size and oscillation. Some guidance has been offered regarding the timing characteristics of various types of clocks, but no consensus has been reached on the original poster's specific question.

Contextual Notes

There is a mention of a lack of clarity in the original question, and the original poster expresses uncertainty about where to seek help. The discussion includes references to external resources for further understanding.

Fill these out, so we can help you better.

no no, I'm not attempt to solve anything in these question, since i don't know where to ask, so, i ask here ;P,
i just want to know mechanism on a normal grandfather clock pendulum which is normally convert one second until one complete oscillation, or only half oscillation.

sorry, if my grammar so terrible

No, its was well put, i didn't read it correctly.

I http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/gadgets/clocks-watches/clock.htm/printable" it depends on the size of the clock.
Small Cuckoo clocks have 4 theta per second,
Medium wall clocks 2 theta per second,
Large Grandfather clocks 1 theta per second.

You can hear it in their ticking actually, maybe if you youtube it you'll get a more solid answer.
