Has anyone ever built a functioning superconducting quenchgun?

Or has the theory or practicality of it's operation ever been questioned or disproved?

I imagine that you have already done a Search on this. Did you get any results? They've had twenty years, since the paper was published, to try experiments and technology will have advanced a bit in that time. (A FORTRAN program did the calculations at the time and the dates it all)

Yes I have tried searching , couldn't find anything ever built.
The same guys were writing papers about it since 1979 though.
