Help with two hydraulic cylinders and DCV

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the operation of two hydraulic cylinders using a directional control valve (DCV). The user requires a setup where Cylinder #1 extends and retracts first, followed by Cylinder #2 extending and retracting, all controlled by a single DCV. Participants confirm that a DCV can effectively manage this sequence, although clarification on whether one or two DCVs are needed remains unresolved.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems and components
  • Knowledge of directional control valves (DCV)
  • Familiarity with hydraulic cylinder operation
  • Basic schematic drawing skills for hydraulic circuits
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the types of directional control valves suitable for hydraulic systems
  • Learn about hydraulic cylinder sequencing techniques
  • Explore hydraulic circuit design and schematic representation
  • Investigate the use of timers or sensors in hydraulic systems for sequencing
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for hydraulic engineers, technicians working with hydraulic systems, and students studying fluid mechanics or automation in hydraulic applications.

i hope someone can help i have a question.
i two hdyraulic cylinders. cyl #1 must extend then retract when cyl 1 is retracted, cyl2 must extend then retract but i can only use dcv how can this be done what type dcv must i useand if possible a drawing would be great.
thank you in advance.

Just saw this so it may be too late to help you but what is a dcv? Directional valve?

I'm going to assume a dcv is a directional control valve. Yes, easily done. Is only one dcv to be used or two?
