AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around solving a homework problem related to the hodograph for punch operation, referencing equations for work done and velocity. The user expresses uncertainty about the orientation of velocity vectors V* and whether to include an additional vector V5. There is also confusion regarding the presence of shear on segment CE and the magnitude of V*CE. The user calculates a value of P/2k as 8, which they believe is high. Clarification on these points is sought to ensure accurate problem-solving.

Homework Equations

dW/dt = k ∑ (S⋅V*)

dW/dt = P (w/2) Vp

The Attempt at a Solution

I have some idea about the orientation of V* 1-4 based on the upper-bound field provided. Unsure if I should include a V5. Is there shear on CE? (Wrote DE in my work but meant CE) Also unsure what the magnitude of V*CE would be.

I got P/2k = 8. Seems high
