SUMMARY

To block the website "tankionline.com" on a Mac system, users can utilize the hosts file method, which should effectively prevent access. If this method fails, clearing the browser history and cache is essential, as the system may be retrieving a cached version of the site. Additionally, configuring the firewall's outbound filter to block the address can serve as an alternative solution. For more comprehensive content control, users may consider employing OpenDNS or dedicated content-blocking software.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with editing the hosts file on macOS
  • Understanding of DNS flushing commands in macOS

Hi,
I don't know where to ask this question so I decide to ask it here. I search all over the web and cannot find the solution.
I use mac system.

The website i want to block is:
"tankionline.com"

I used the first method stated in this webpage (http://www.wikihow.com/Block-a-Website-in-Safari) which can block many websites successfully but particularly not "tankionline.com". I flushed the DNS many times and restarted my computer. Why is that?

Thank you very much for any help and suggestion.

did you clear your browser history? the system may be pulling a cached page.
the hosts file should do the trick but if that isn't working then perhaps you can make an entry on your firewall's outbound filter and block that address?
