SUMMARY

The HP 50g Calculator does not have a built-in function for performing quadratic regression, which has led to user frustration, particularly among those accustomed to RPN (Reverse Polish Notation). However, the calculator is highly programmable, allowing users to create their own quadratic regression programs. Users can save these programs in a variable and easily recall them using the soft keys. This flexibility makes the HP 50g a viable option for those who prefer RPN over other calculators like the TI series.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of RPN (Reverse Polish Notation)
  • Basic programming skills on the HP 50g Calculator
  • Familiarity with quadratic regression concepts
  • Knowledge of using variables and directories on the HP 50g
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to program quadratic regression on the HP 50g Calculator
  • Learn about saving and recalling variables on the HP 50g
  • Explore existing user-created programs for statistical analysis on HP calculators
  • Investigate alternative calculators that support built-in quadratic regression functions
USEFUL FOR

Students, educators, and enthusiasts of HP calculators, particularly those who prefer RPN and need to perform statistical analyses like quadratic regression.

Just went against the tide of the school and bought an Hp 50g Calculator(love RPN!) however to my dismay the calculator does not appear to do quadratic regression. Now my teacher is pressuring me into using a ti and I can't stand them now that I've gotten used to RPN.
Does anyone know how to make the thing do quadratic regression?

I just got an HP50G myself (I am a gret lover of HP and RPN too, this is my 5th or 6th HP)

I don't know if the calc does it directly but it is greatly programable. You could save your new quadratic regression program in a VARiable (like a file folder) under a specific directory of your choice and recall it when you need it (with the soft keys).

Enjoy!
