There are a lot of interesting and unusual usernames on the board, and I have been wondering how different people have come up with theirs.

Pranav is my real name and hence my username.

How did you come up with yours?

There is a previous thread on this very subject, which might be of use to you in regard to people who no longer post.
In my case, though, I'm known in my town as Danny Danger (or sometimes Dangerous Dan). Danger is the name that I use on pinball machines, video games, and such like, so it was no big stretch to apply it here.

It's a secret I only divulge to my closest friends.
Do you already know it?

People's first guess is usually that it is from Serena "Black Booty" Williams, but that's not it!
Others though I was female myself until I put up a picture on my profile!

I too thought the same.

Why on Earth would you feel sorry about that? It's not as if there is an index of obsolete topics handy. Besides, most currently active members weren't here when it was last used. It is therefore largely irrelevant.

Actually, the secret was out in my visitor messages.
Luckily Greg became convinced he should wipe all VM's! :approve:
Pheeeew!

Yep. It is!

When micromass realized what is was, he went straight for his legos to see if he could build it too!

I really like Escher. Do you have a larger version of that I.L. Serena?

I've been asked this Q before. So why not sharing:)
The REAL reason behind my name was an advice I decided to follow;

"be like a drizzle, never harming but useful, where ever it lands"

I had assumed it was from ATHF.

It's probably pretty obvious where my name came from. Generic, I know.

Nice name drizzle. :)

Btw, i have always been wondering what those squares represent in your signature? :)

I always assumed that they were Braille, which led me to wonder of what possible use they could be on a computer monitor.

Braille? They seem to me completely empty squares. Maybe a font problem.

I'm pretty sure it's braille. It says "Truly it is not the eyes that are.." Then I got tired of staring at the dots!

I don't really know... micromass, were you?

I do know he suddenly had in interest in quantum physics... :P
Did he perchance approach you QuarkCharmer?

Just google for images of Escher and it'll be on one of the first pages (I did ).

It's from the Quran.
I did wonder why drizzle put that in her signature.

Drizzle, what's your reason?

That could be. I sometimes get the same thing on sites that are designed strictly for Windows-burners. If neither Safari nor Leopard recognizes a character, a small square appears in its place.

I've been asked that too, funny enough by the same person. Hi there!
It's English barril, look it up... If you can!

Oh I see why it's in braille now. Clever.

I chose to be named in honor of our last ferret, turbo. "turbo" was already taken as a user-name, so I had to be turbo-1 until Astro kindly truncated that. We got turbo as a kit, and he had two speeds - "turbo" and "coma". I thought that the former was more appropriate.

Even if I tweak my "accessibility" setting to maximum, it still just looks as if an ant with diarrhea has strolled across my screen.

I'm even more impressed now that you say that. I've always found or adopted my pets; you're the first dude that I've known who had to build his.
