How do I use LaTex in the forum for to write equations?

AI Thread Summary
To use LaTeX for writing equations in the forum, users can refer to the provided link for guidance on the differences between TeX and MathJax, which is used by web servers. Basic LaTeX syntax includes using double dollar signs for display equations, such as $$a^2+b^2=c^2$$. Users are encouraged to provide more context and details in their threads to avoid confusion and ensure effective communication. Language barriers can be addressed with translation tools like Google Translate. Clear and complete inquiries will facilitate better support from the community.

Please have a look at https://www.physicsforums.com/help/latexhelp/

Webservers do not use TeX, they use various versions of MathJax because the technical demands are different on a client-server architecture versus a compiler architecture on a single platform system. The link above tells you about the differences here.

##a^2+b^2=c^2## or a^2+b^2=c^2 results in ##a^2+b^2=c^2##
$$a^2+b^2=c^2$$ or a^2+b^2=c^2 results in $$a^2+b^2=c^2$$

Thank you very much fresh_42 . Cordial greetings.

$$ax^2 + bx + c = 0$$

All of your threads require way more explanations, references, and reports about what you have done, searched, or read so far. I'm afraid these fragments of yours will directly lead to problems here. If it is a language issue, then please use https://translate.google.com/

I am using google translator. Maybe I don't know how to take advantage of all its functions.
I honestly assumed that in the questions I had expressed what I was interested in finding out. Now I notice that it hasn't turned out well. Thanks for your support.

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
This came up in my job today (UXP). Never thought to raise it here on PF till now. Hyperlinks really should be underlined at all times. PF only underlines them when they are rolled over. Colour alone (especially dark blue/purple) makes it difficult to spot a hyperlink in a large block of text (or even a small one). Not everyone can see perfectly. Even if they don't suffer from colour deficiency, not everyone has the visual acuity to distinguish two very close shades of text. Hover actions...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
