SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on calculating car motion parameters under uniform acceleration and deceleration. The car accelerates at 0.7 m/s² from rest for 60 seconds, travels at a constant velocity for 5 minutes, and then decelerates uniformly over 20 seconds. Key calculations include determining maximum velocity, total distance traveled, retardation, the number of revolutions of a wheel with a diameter of 0.5 meters, and the maximum angular acceleration of the wheel.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of kinematic equations for uniformly accelerated motion
  • Knowledge of angular motion and its relationship to linear motion
  • Familiarity with basic physics concepts such as acceleration, velocity, and distance
  • Ability to perform unit conversions and calculations involving time and distance
NEXT STEPS
  • Calculate maximum velocity using the formula: v = u + at
  • Determine total distance traveled using the equation: s = ut + 0.5at²
  • Calculate retardation using the formula: a = (v - u) / t
  • Find the maximum angular acceleration of the wheel using the relationship between linear and angular acceleration: α = a / r
USEFUL FOR

Students studying physics, automotive engineers, and anyone interested in understanding the principles of motion and acceleration in vehicles.

A few questions...any help?

Any help would be much appreciated!

1) Car is uniformely accelerated at 0.7m/sec^2 from rest, for 60sec, travels at constant velocity for 5 mins and comes to rest after uniformaly retarding ofr 20sec

- maximum velocity attained?
- total distance traveled?
- retardation?
- number or revolutions of a wheel (diameter 0.5m)?
- max angular acceleration of wheel?
