SUMMARY

Calculating the resistance of a coil can be achieved without directly measuring amperage by utilizing the coil's physical properties. Key factors include the coil's diameter, the number of turns, and the material type, which influence its resistivity. The resistivity can be calculated using the formula R = ρ(L/A), where R is resistance, ρ is resistivity, L is the length of the wire, and A is the cross-sectional area. This method allows for accurate resistance calculations based solely on the coil's specifications.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electrical resistance and Ohm's Law
  • Familiarity with the concept of resistivity
  • Knowledge of coil geometry (diameter and number of turns)
  • Basic skills in geometry for calculating cross-sectional area
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the formula for calculating resistance in coils using resistivity
  • Learn about the properties of different coil materials and their resistivity values
  • Explore methods for measuring coil dimensions accurately
  • Investigate the impact of temperature on resistivity in coil materials
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineers, hobbyists in electronics, and anyone involved in coil design or analysis will benefit from this discussion.

Hi all. I'm just wondering if it is possible to calculate the resistance in a coil without the amperage value? I've got voltage,coil-diametre, amount of turns, coils material type.

The only way i think it is possible if i set a ampmetre into the circuit. is there any way?

Thank you.
