I think one loosens or tightens a screw with a screwdriver, while one uses a wrench or nut driver (looks similar to a screwdriver) to loosen or tighten a nut.

What is significant between the tip of the screwdriver (or nut driver) and the handle?

One is applying a torque at the head/tip.
