How is derived the classical energy-momentum relation, E = p^2/2m?

Thanks!

Kinetic Energy = [tex]0.5 * mv^{2}[/tex]

momentum = p = mv

Kinetic Energy = [tex]0.5 * p * v[/tex]
Kinetic Energy = [tex]0.5 * p * p/m[/tex]
Kinetic Energy = [tex]0.5 * p^{2}/m[/tex]

Kinetic Energy = [tex]p^{2}/2m[/tex]
