I hope you don't ask someone with a big size whether they've got their belly hanging out. But the comment was probably in good fun

Yeah, it was meant in fun. And a tad bit of jealousy that she has a body type that allows her to be so thin. Then again, I think I did accuse Ivan of having a pot-belly, though only when he reveals his gray alien form.

Good for you! May I suggest "Reviving Ophelia" by Mary Pipher? Where were all the dads? Don't mind me. Just a little something I need to do . . .

6'-1, 217 lb. Not getting any taller as the years go by, but I've got 300 pounds in my crosshairs. I think I can get there.

ack I, along with dextercioby and Danger, seem to be the skinniest for our heights. I am around 6-7 inches taller than Moonbear and Evo and yet I am near their weight class (!).

Then again, I have no fat on my arms (very slowly building up muscle), very little on my legs, and only around 1 inch of stretchable midsection which I can't quite tell whether it is fat or skin. Even though I am slowly trying to build up muscle in some areas, I doubt that my stature allows for an Arnold Schwarzenegger build. At least the slight muscle definition that is there isn't masked by any fat.

That's probably what happens when an already skinny person decides to take part in a highly aerobic activity like long distance running.. I get even leaner.

Strangely enough, I'm not exactly skinny. I've casuallly studied a bit of physiology (that's how I study everything), and still have no clue of what the hell exactly is going on with my body. It's almost like a 'Hulk' thing. Under normal circumstances I'm built like a 10-year-old. If I concentrate for a couple of seconds and tense up, suddenly muscles appear (not huge, but well-defined). I have no difficulty lifting 100lbs with one hand. A few years ago I had a 390lb grip with my right hand and 370 with the left, and yet I have wrists like pipe-cleaners. The arthritis has really messed that up, but I can still manage about 250. Overall, though, I try not to exert myself any more than is absolutely necessary (breathing, eating, sex when I can get it...) The last time I tried something heroic didn't go well. I tore a couple of muscles in my ass picking up the end of an 800lb pool table to shake a stuck ball loose. The ball came out, but I couldn't finish the game.

Sunblock and skin glycation

Evo said:
staying out of the sun all those years has resulted in very few wrinkles.

The child of Evo finally realized what I've been telling her for years. She compared me to women much younger and it scared her enough that she's stopped sunbathing. She took an SPF50 sunblock to Cancun last month.
Sunblock blocks UVB. UVA causes glycation (wrinkles). UV-B causes sunburn. Wearing sunblock in the sun tends to increase photoaging rates by encouraging longer exposure.

Her sunblock blocks both UVA & UVB, most of them do now.

According to an observer on a spaceship moving at 0.99c in a direction from my feet to my head while standing straight up, I would be said to have a height of about 10.6 inches and a weight of about 1630 lbs.

  • #66
Can someone translate that please?

I'm 6'0" and havn't weighed myself in years, but I have a light build.

  • #67
Currently 6'4" and 174 lbs. I was up to 180 after Easter (lamb cake!)

5'4"

Last year I was about 105 lbs, then all this year I hit the weight room three times a week. After protein shakes and 4000 calorie days, I'm now 130 lbs. It's funny, because I don't really work out anymore, but I do run track, and I find myself gaining more weight now.

But I would like to gain more weight still, even though I'm not going to be growing in the vertical sense. :(

5'5.5" and a little over 100 lbs. Lost about ten coming to college, so now my mom thinks I'm starving to death or some such. Keeps my food drawer well stocked which is nice! :approve:

178cm and 82kg.
I'm a tad overweight, but that will be corrected in the near future as I finally convinced my parental unit to pay for a gym (huzzah!)

They don't take into account body composition. Anyone who has built up a decent amount of muscle will have a higher BMI, even if they have only a healthy amount of fat. Nonetheless, even with a very slender frame, someone who is only 100 lbs and 5'5" probably does need to gain a bit of weight. But don't eat more junk food, increase the amount of healthy food, and do some strength training exercises to build up muscle rather than just put on fat.

I'm 6'2", and between 150 and 160, depending what I've eaten in the past few weeks.

That would put your http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm at 16,4. You should weight at least 113 lbs for a "healthy" minimum BMI of 18.5.
Cool link! It says my weight is normal for my height. I just wish you had a calculator that could convert it all to muscle.

I don't think I've ever been 113 in my entire life so don't know if that's going to happen anytime soon. In all honesty I'm just never that hungry is what it comes down to and what I do eat is healthy (and bike a lot each day) so I'm not going to worry excessively over it.
Though my friends are known to gain parental airs while in the dining hall and trying to get me to eat. ("I don't care if the server gave you two thirds of a plate of mashed potatoes, you're eating them all!")

My dessert is more along the lines of chocolate pie, and I know how to make a good one that is remarkably low in calories too. Its more like a mousse than anything else. It also only takes 15 minutes to make (and several hours to cool).

5' 8" , 131 lbs ..

man it's so hard for a normal Indian male to go above six feet, my ultimate height goal is around 6' 2", just recently I got a copy of a more than a thousand years old book on yoga by the ancient scholar Patanjali, it's amazing, yoga has particular asanas for everything, so i have started the ones that help higher growth..

Recipe, please. Maybe I can pay Moonbear to make me one. I don't cook anything that doesn't involve a can opener or a microwave.

I'd like someone to do the following:

Find out the weight of the last ten members to have posted in each forum here. Add them together, and tell us whether engineers are fatter than biologists...

Danger, at your earliest convenience...

I think I'll raise the average for the biology. I am 5'8" and 180 lbs. BMI tells me I am overweight. As moonbear, the index do not take into account my muscle mass and physiology. I am a tank.

Fan of one of the California teams, I assume? Most of them are lottery fodder this season, so it'd make sense. I'm hoping for my Knicks to tab Gerald Green or Chris Taft.

Lakers fan since I was born at the beginning of the showtime era just outside of LA. I'm praying for Raymond Felton myself, but Jarrett Jack would be a great consolation prize. This is the first year in a long time I've even cared about the draft.

I know he's a Bluenoser; that's why I wasn't sure if he was bragging or confessing. 'Tank' is short for 'piss-tank', meaning an alcoholic.
The 'note to Yanks' thing was just to let you know that there was a joke to be had.

I'm 170-171cm and 65-70kg.

But there's something I don't get... Most of you use SI units daily and yet you tell your height and weight in feets and punds? Why?!

Because that's what the rest of the country uses, so no point doing the conversion. Usually the only time I need to tell anyone my height and weight, it's to go on my drivers' license or at the doctor's office.
