How to Design a Combinational Circuit for Voting with a 7-Segment Display?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on designing a combinational circuit for a voting system using a 7-segment display. The circuit must account for three stockholders, Mr. W, Mr. X, and Mr. Y, who collectively own 7 shares, with voting represented by logic levels from their switches. The solution involves utilizing three 8x1 multiplexers (IC 74151) to convert the voting inputs into a Binary-Coded Decimal (BCD) format, which is then displayed using a BCD-to-7-Segment decoder (IC 7447). Key conditions for the multiplexers include determining the logic states based on the stockholders' votes.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of combinational circuit design
  • Familiarity with 7-segment displays and BCD-to-7-Segment decoders
  • Knowledge of multiplexers, specifically the 8x1 multiplexer (IC 74151)
  • Basic logic design principles, including logic levels and voting systems
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the operation and configuration of the 8x1 multiplexer (IC 74151)
  • Study the BCD-to-7-Segment decoder (IC 7447) and its application in circuit design
  • Learn about combinational circuit design techniques for voting systems
  • Explore practical examples of using logic gates in voting applications
USEFUL FOR

Electronics engineers, circuit designers, and students studying digital logic who are interested in designing voting systems and utilizing multiplexers and decoders in their projects.

hi to all
can anyone help me to solve this problem ?
A small corporation has 7 shares of stock, and each share entitles its owner to one vote at a
stockholders meeting. The 7 shares are owned by 3 people as follows:
Mr.W:1 share
Mr.X:3 shares
Mr.Y:3 shares
Each of these persons has a switch to close (logic-1) when voting “YES” and open (logic-0) when
voting “NO” for his or her share(s).
Design a combination circuit that displays the total number of shares that vote “YES” for each
measure. Use a 7-segment display and a BCD-to-7-Segment decoder to display the number “YES”
votes. Use three 8x1 multiplexers (IC 74151) to design the combinational circuit that converts the input
from the stock owners' switches into the BCD input code for the 7447.
