Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around labeling axes on a polar plot, exploring the conventions and standards in this context.

Discussion Character

  • Conceptual clarification

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants discuss the appropriateness of using traditional x and y labels for polar plots, with some questioning the existence of a standard labeling convention.

Discussion Status

Several perspectives have been shared regarding axis labeling, with some participants suggesting the use of x and y labels while others express uncertainty about standard practices.

Contextual Notes

There appears to be a lack of consensus on the labeling conventions for polar plots, with varying opinions on whether to use traditional labels or omit them entirely.

If you were add axis labels to a polar plot what would you use for labels in place for a y-axis label and a x-axis label?

I've seen the axes still labeled as x and y for polar coordinates (because of the relationship between polar and rectangular). I've seen no labels at all. Why do you ask?

I'm just wondering what's the standard, if there's one to begin with.

I would label them x and y!
