The discussion highlights an issue with a forum's handling of LaTeX tags, where users find that their LaTeX code is stripped from previews and potentially from actual posts, leading to incomplete mathematical expressions. The user shares a specific integral equation but notes that it does not display correctly due to the forum's formatting limitations. Attempts to use equations from other users also fail, indicating a broader problem with the forum's support for LaTeX. The update clarifies that while the preview feature is malfunctioning, the actual posts may still be displayed correctly.

Update: Well, apparently the problem is just that the preview doesn't work on this site. The actual post is fine.

Homework Statement

I can't use this forum well, because any latex tags I type in are removed. For example, see the tex code below. In the preview (and probably in the real post as well) all it shows is the \int.

Homework Equations

\int \frac{x}{(x-a)^2} \, dx = \int \frac{x-a+a}{(x-a)^2} \, dx = \int \frac{dx}{x-a} + a\int \frac{d(x-a)}{(x-a)^2} = \ln|x-a| - \frac{a}{x-a} + C

The Attempt at a Solution

I tried to use other folks equations, but that didn't work either.
