Ideas for 4-6 week research project

I am thinking of applying for a bursary to do a research project for 4-6 weeks during the summer holidays in 2009. The one problem is I can't think of a project to undertake. The criteria are:

Your project should be self-contained so that you can experience a beginning, a middle and an end within 4 - 6 weeks.

A project should allow you scope to use your initiative.

The criteria for selecting projects are that they should:

• have clear scientific or technological content;
• contribute to the work of the host organisation;
• be well defined, having a clear outcome in mind from the beginning;
• allow scope for initiative on the part of the student.

I have a good understanding of physics for my age (16). All suggestions are welcome.

If it must contribute to the work of the host organisation then you should start looking there.
