SUMMARY

The discussion centers on advancing from Grade 10 to Grade 11 Chemistry, emphasizing foundational knowledge in chemical families and the periodic table. Participants recommend studying standard texts such as "Chemistry" by Raymond Chang and "Principles of Chemistry" by Peter Atkins for deeper understanding. Engaging with chemistry problems on forums is also suggested as a practical approach to reinforce learning. These resources provide essential preparation for more complex topics in higher-level chemistry courses.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic chemical families and the periodic table
  • Familiarity with balancing chemical equations
  • Access to standard chemistry textbooks, specifically "Chemistry" by Raymond Chang
  • Basic problem-solving skills in chemistry
NEXT STEPS
  • Study "Chemistry" by Raymond Chang for foundational concepts
  • Explore "Principles of Chemistry" by Peter Atkins for advanced topics
  • Practice chemistry problems on forums to enhance problem-solving skills
  • Research the structure and properties of different chemical families
USEFUL FOR

Students transitioning from Grade 10 to Grade 11 Chemistry, educators seeking resources for teaching chemical families, and anyone looking to strengthen their foundational chemistry knowledge.

Hello Physics forums!
Im currently in Grade 10 learning the intro course on Chemistry. Can someone lead me to the right direction if I want to advance study for Grade 11 Chem? Please and thank you!

EDIT:
BTW Grade 10 Chem was just an intro course on different types of chemical families, a simple lecture on the periodic table, and it was mostly around balancing equations. Easy Stuff!

Read any standard general chemistry text and practice the problems for instance the one authored by Raymond Chang . Answer some chemistry problems here on physicsforums when the school season is happening again.

Thank you

genius: Look up this text, atkins, principles of chemistry. It is the first book I used when entering chem engineering.

Thank you! And Now I am headed to the library :D
