AI Thread Summary
The implot function in IRAF is unresponsive when using the xgterm terminal on macOS High Sierra 10.13.3, with issues including non-functional keystroke commands and inability to return to xgterm after opening implot. The user initially experienced problems with implot displaying plots but could not interact with the window. After troubleshooting, the user resolved the issue by completely deleting and reinstalling IRAF, which restored functionality. This suggests that installation issues may have contributed to the initial unresponsiveness. Reinstallation can be a viable solution for similar problems in the future.

I downloaded IRAF to my machine using astroconda, and everything works perfectly except the implot function when using an xgterm terminal (it kind of works with xterm, but not really). I can get it to display a plot with implot, but none of the keystroke functions work at all and I am not even able to make the implot window active by clicking it or anything like that. I am not able to return to xgterm either once implot has been opened, so I have to restart everything. Does anybody know what the problem could or what I need to do to make implot work? I'm sure I've left out some information that is necesarry for answering this question, so let me know what you need to know and I'll tell you. Thank you for your help.

Nevermind figured it out! Completely deleted and reinstalled and everything worked fine.

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
