Is a Venturi Suction the Solution for Low Pressure in a Centrifugal Pump System?

AI Thread Summary
A user is attempting to use a venturi to inject air into the suction side of a centrifugal pump, which has a suction pressure of 2 bar and a discharge pressure of 6 to 7 bar. The pump delivers 180 cubic meters per hour, but the user reports minimal suction from the venturi despite adjusting a throttling valve. Concerns are raised about potential pressure losses due to bends and the small diameter of the piping between the high and low pressure sides. The discussion emphasizes the need for a diagram or sketch to better understand the setup and identify issues. Overall, the effectiveness of the venturi for air entrainment in this specific configuration remains uncertain.

TL;DR Summary
I have suction problems on a venturi connected across a centrifugal pump.
Good day

I am trying to use a venturi across a centrifugal pump. The pressure at suction side is about 2 bar and the discharge pressure about 6 to 7 bar. This pump supply drippers and the delivery is about 180 cub/h. I need to inject entrainment air into the suction side and try to use a venturi across the high (discharge) and low (suction) pressure sides of the pump.

I get little to no suction on the venturi. I have a throttling valve to play around with the flow through the venturi. The setup have also quite a lot of bends.

Can the low suction be the pressure loss on these bends and relative low diameter pipe between the high and low pressure.

Thank you for feedback!

A bit difficult to say what happens here... do you have a sketch of the setup that shows what's going on, with some dimensions? Do you have a measurement of the pressure at the Venturi throat?

A diagram would definitely help, but I can't envision how a Venturi for air entrainment could be added anywhere in a system like this.

My water meter is submerged under water for about 95% of the year. Today I took a photograph of the inside of my water meter box because today is one of the rare days that my water meter is not submerged in water. Here is the photograph that I took of my water meter with the cover on: Here is a photograph I took of my water meter with the cover off: I edited the photograph to draw a red circle around a knob on my water meter. Is that knob that I drew a red circle around my meter...
