AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the potential steric inhibition of resonance effects in the acetate ion derived from acetic acid. The inquiry seeks to understand whether steric factors disrupt the resonance stability of the carboxylate group (COO) and consequently destabilize the acetate ion. However, responses indicate confusion regarding the question's clarity, with suggestions that replacing "resonance" with "bond strength" might clarify the issue. The lack of replies suggests that the question may not be well-formulated or understood within the chemistry community.

Is there steric inhibition of resonance effect acting on acetate ion of acetic acid by which it breaks the equivalent resonance of COO group and destabilize the acetate ion? Please help me to understand this

Hmm... Does it make more sense if "resonance" is replaced with "bond strength"?

(not a chemist, so just guessing from context)

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
