SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the lack of an "official" method for reducing belly fat, emphasizing that no specific diet targets this area due to genetic and environmental factors. Participants recommend consulting the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for credible dietary information, particularly the DASH diet, which is recognized for its reasonable dietary choices. It is established that weight loss affects fat deposits throughout the body rather than in isolated areas. The consensus is that individual healthcare provider advice is paramount for effective weight management.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of the DASH diet principles
  • Familiarity with the concept of adipocytes and fat distribution
  • Basic knowledge of weight loss mechanisms
  • Ability to access and interpret medical literature from NIH
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the DASH diet and its impact on overall health
  • Explore NIH publications on weight loss strategies
  • Learn about the role of adipocytes in fat storage and distribution
  • Consult with healthcare providers for personalized weight loss plans
USEFUL FOR

Individuals seeking to understand effective weight loss strategies, healthcare professionals advising patients on dietary choices, and anyone interested in the science behind fat distribution and management.

I could probably find tons of such information on Google, but what is the truth?

We cannot give medical advice on PF. Thread is closed.

However, because money and profit are involved in supplements, specialty diets, etc. - you are correct.
Bogus information abounds out there.

So to help you make decisions:
Go to NIH and do search for DASH diet to give you an idea of what medical people consider reasonable dietary choices are.

If you can read medical articles NIH has a repository with a daunting number of publications on weight loss.

So try for the dash diet:
NIH: dash diet
Weight loss:
NIH: weight loss for patients

Your health care provider's opinion is your best choice.

Also, as pointed out by @Astronuc (thank you )

OP wants to lose belly fat. There is no known diet that does this specifically because it a genetic/environment trait, like steatopygia. Weight will decrease fat deposits anywhere. As a general statement.

Cause of where fat is deposited:
Preexisting adipocytes, which were formed early on in your life, dictate the location of future fat deposits on your body.
