i was doing some research on future methods of space flight when i noticed something called a reactionless drive . impulse if you will.

Did you try the experiment shown in the URL link?

Without trying it myself, my guess is that the direction of motion relies one of the masses dissipating its energy as heat and sound.
IMHO this would seem wasteful use of what is usually a valuable recourse on board a space craft.
