Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the search for AEDsys software, which is associated with aircraft engine design and was created by Jack Mattingly. Participants explore the availability of the software, its significance in computations related to turbojet engines, and issues encountered while trying to access it.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses a need for AEDsys software, highlighting its importance in simplifying complex calculations in aircraft engine design.
  • Another participant provides a link to a site where the software was previously available, but questions its current functionality.
  • A participant reports that the provided link does not work, suggesting that the original source may no longer exist.
  • Further discussion reveals that removing a VPN allowed one participant to successfully download the software, indicating potential technical issues related to network configurations.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the unavailability of the software from its original source, but there is a divergence regarding the functionality of the alternative link provided, with some finding it operational while others do not.

Contextual Notes

There are unresolved questions regarding the status of Mattingly Consulting and the reliability of third-party links for downloading the software. Technical issues related to VPN usage are also noted but not fully explained.

Who May Find This Useful

This discussion may be useful for individuals interested in aircraft engine design software, particularly those seeking AEDsys or facing similar technical challenges in accessing software resources.

TL;DR
Software for aircraft engine design
Good day

I am looking for a software called AEDsys.exe. This (AED stands for aircraft engine design) SW was created by Jack Mattingly years ago. It is the backbone of the computations involved in his wonderful book “Aircraft Engine Design” ( authors Jack Mattingly, William Heiser, David Pratt ).

The point of this SW is to save a lot of necessary computations in the complex equations describing real turbojet engines today. If you do all that manually you have to waste a LOT of time and mistakes can pop up very easily !!!

I wanted to get it from Mattingly Consulting site, but the site is gone now and I cannot find any way to buy this SW... Does anyone know where to find this software ? Thank you for any pointers.

Good day. Yes and no ! I went to that Informer Tech link already 15 days ago while searching for this and none of the links there lead anywhere. It looks like the site is gone, probably because Mattingly Consulting does not exist anymore, I am not sure... But thank you anyway !

It doesn't work if you click on download from the link @Baluncore posted? It works for me.

Wow.. After you said you could dload it, I had the idea of removing my VPN setup and ... it worked then. I have no idea why the VPN messes this. It never crossed my mind it could be anything like that until you tried successfully, so it had to be then something IT-wise, and not what I had assumed .. Thank you again and have a nice day !!!
