Electronics: Mealy State Machine Design
I'm having trouble with designing the Mealy state machine below:
A state machine is to have two inputs X and Y and an output Z. The output should stay at a constant value unless one of the input sequences occurs below:
a) Input sequence XY = 00 followed by 11 - Output Z becomes 0
b) Input sequence XY = 01 followed by 11 - Output Z becomes 1
c) Input sequence XY = 10 followed by 11 - Output Z toggles
Draw a Mealy model state diagram for this function.
I have no idea where to start. I'm not sure what states I should use and what they should represent. I initially assumed that you would use a state to represent a certain input occurring, however I cannot get this to work.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
