Modeling Projectile Motion in Matlab

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around modeling the motion of a batted ball using MATLAB, specifically focusing on incorporating air resistance and drag into the simulation. Participants are seeking assistance with MATLAB files and equations related to projectile motion.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant is attempting to model a batted ball's motion, including air resistance and drag, and is looking for help with their MATLAB files.
  • Another participant has created an m-file that models a projectile in three dimensions with drag proportional to the velocity squared and offers to share it.
  • Several participants express interest in obtaining the m-file for the 3D projectile motion model, requesting it to be sent to their personal email addresses.
  • Multiple requests for the same m-file indicate a high demand for this specific modeling approach among participants.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for assistance with MATLAB files and the interest in sharing projectile motion modeling resources. However, there is no consensus on the specific equations or methods being used, as multiple participants are independently offering similar m-files.

Contextual Notes

There are limitations regarding the specific equations and assumptions used in the modeling, as well as the lack of clarity on the implementation details of the MATLAB files being discussed.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in modeling projectile motion, particularly in a MATLAB environment, and those looking for examples of incorporating drag and air resistance in simulations.

Hey,
I'm trying to model the motion of a batted ball (the pitch, collision and the hit). However, I'm including air resistance and drag, which makes it that much more difficult. I was wondering if there's anyone that would be willing to help get my MATLAB files to run properly and maybe check the equations I have.
I will paypal money to whoever can fix my mfiles and function files.
Thank you

I have written an m-file that models a projectile in 3 dimensions with drag that is proportional to the velocity squared. Tell me if ur interested

I am interested..I just started using MATLAB so this example would be very helpful..
