A user describes a spider living in their pan cupboard, measuring about 2.5 inches and not making webs. The conversation shifts to naming the spider, with suggestions like Rutherford Jimmy, Spidy Gonzales, and Death. Participants discuss how to determine a spider's sex, noting that females are typically larger. The thread includes humorous exchanges about spiders, with some expressing strong dislike for them and others suggesting creative names like Anansi and Octavian. There are also anecdotes about encounters with spiders and the fear they evoke, alongside playful banter about naming conventions for pets. Overall, the discussion reflects a mix of humor, fear, and curiosity about spiders, with a focus on naming and personal experiences.

Sorry my bad, I was referring to the size of the envelope and not the species of spider :)

But that is still one huge wolf spider. I would hate to wake up with one of those on my face :bugeye:

LOL! I thought maybe you were an arachnid person and A4 was some term you used.

Hey, I'm only operating on 2 neurons, I just woke up.

Anyway, it is a poisonous spider, the envelope tested negative for venom.

You could just step on him and call him Spot.
My grandmother was very superstitious and, if I remember correctly, though that killing a spider indoors would somehow keep money from you. But I guess she was wrong.

Finding a spider on your clothes means a letter, money or both.

Yea. That was in the link. I hope it will work here, as we need some rain.

Tetanus is a fitting, majestic name for a spider, I think!

"Staph Infection" works too.

How about Arachnia?

Or Magnus(latin for big)?

Charlotte, as in Charlotte's web.

Nevermind, Charlotte's already been suggested.

How about Wilbur?

Only if the spider owns a talking horse.

  • #76
Just call him Horse, the talking spider.

That'll at least confuse the heck out of people while you go make some tea.

How about Harry?

  • #78
Goobs or Beke, perhaps?

Spiderbot.

I really do not follow your thinking, but as it must be better than mine Skitchy sounds fine :approve:

I was thinking that a spider moving about in the cupboard might make a sound like "skitch skitch skitch". That was about it.

If you mean the others: Parker as in Peter Parker (Spiderman), and Anansi like the African trickster god.

Lock the spider in the cupboard with a random timer released vial of poison and call him "Schrodinger."

  • #85
Call it "Flat Hairy Black Spot on the Wall After Thowing a Shoe".

  • #86
Smudge?

  • #87
"Crazy 8"

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I also don't want to create one just for this and have Evo ban me!

So today, I was giving the lawn a good mow and I walked face first into the scariest looking spider I have ever seen. I have lived in Florida for nearly my whole live, save for some time spent abroad, and I have never seen this thing before. I managed to find a picture of it online.

It looks just like that, except the one in my yard is yellow with white sides and black horns (or whatever those are). Wth is this? It was as large as a quarter!

Holy s@#$! It looks like one of those alien crab thingies that jump on your face in the movies and impregnate you with creepy alien eggs or control your mind.

Maybe you can call your spider Mini Evo, or Evo Jr.
