SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for a recent version of ETAP for performing power flow and short circuit analysis in AC/DC systems. The user currently has ETAP 6 but requires a newer version, specifically ETAP 7 or 7.5, to effectively model energy storage devices such as batteries, ultracapacitors, and flywheels. A participant mentions that ETAP offers a 30-day free trial, which could be a suitable option for the user to evaluate the latest features, particularly those related to DC systems.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of power flow and short circuit analysis
  • Familiarity with ETAP software, specifically versions 6, 7, and 7.5
  • Knowledge of AC/DC systems and their components
  • Awareness of energy storage technologies like batteries and ultracapacitors
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the features of ETAP 7 and 7.5, focusing on DC system capabilities
  • Explore the 30-day free trial of ETAP available on the official website
  • Learn about modeling energy storage devices in ETAP
  • Investigate additional tools for power flow analysis in AC/DC systems
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineers, power system analysts, and anyone involved in modeling and analyzing AC/DC systems using ETAP software.

Why you need a recent version?

I'm trying to model energy storage devices like batteries, ultracapacitor and flywheels.
I think recent version has more capabilities in DC systems than mine.If it doesn't let me know.
7-7.5 is ok.

Welcome to the PF.

So where do you buy the newer version from?
