Has anyone taught, or been taught, using IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) physics? If so, is it rigorous? Could it be taught online?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) physics curriculum includes two levels: Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL), with HL offering a broader scope than SL. Neither level is calculus-based, making them generally less rigorous than the AP Physics C curriculum. The HL course covers a wide range of topics, but excludes rotational dynamics and advanced mechanics, which some educators argue limits its depth. The curriculum is organized and centralized, with a focus on holistic education, though online teaching is unlikely to be accepted in the near future.
PREREQUISITESEducators, students considering the IB program, and anyone involved in curriculum development or physics education reform.
