SUMMARY

The discussion centers on pursuing a PhD in Theoretical Physics in Europe, specifically focusing on Quantum Field Theory (QFT) and General Relativity without delving into string theory or supersymmetry. The user expresses interest in groups that address topics such as the mass problem in particle physics, the Renormalization Group, quantum effects in gravitation, and the physics of the early universe. Notably, the user mentions Shaposhnikov's Group in Lausanne as a potential fit for their research interests.

PREREQUISITES
  • M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics
  • Understanding of Quantum Field Theory (QFT)
  • Knowledge of General Relativity
  • Familiarity with the Renormalization Group
NEXT STEPS
  • Research Shaposhnikov's Group in Lausanne for their current projects and publications.
  • Explore other leading research groups in Europe focusing on Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity.
  • Investigate recent advancements in the physics of Dark Energy and inflation.
  • Review literature on conformal transformations in General Relativity and their implications in QFT.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for graduate students in theoretical physics, researchers seeking PhD opportunities in Europe, and anyone interested in advanced topics in Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity.

Hello, I am a student with a M.Sc. in theoretical physics in search of a PHD. I would like to know which groups in Europe have some relevance in the context of QFT, in particular the problem of the mass in particle physics (no Higgs mechanism), Renormalization Group,.. and General Relativity in particular quantum effects in gravitation, physics of the early universe, Dark Energy, inflation...I' don't like to work in the framework of strings , supersymmetry, Kaluza-Klein, quintessence. To be clear my thesis focused on the conformal transformations in General Relativity and QFT in 4D. thanks

ps: For example i like Shaposhnikov's Group (Lousanne)...is a good group?
