AI Thread Summary
Physicsforums does not currently offer a dedicated app for Windows 11, and users are encouraged to access the site through a web browser instead. The previous mobile app has been deprecated, leading to discussions about the convenience of using browsers for LaTeX formatting. Users have reported issues with LaTeX not previewing correctly on Windows 11, although it works on mobile devices. The platform is exploring solutions for these LaTeX issues, with Greg Bernhardt actively working on improvements. Overall, there is no Windows-specific app available for Physicsforums at this time.

Can physicsforums be installed on Windows 11 as an app so as to avoid using the browser?

I'd be glad if someone would provide me with the link.

Thanks.

I don't think so, but we can check with @Greg Bernhardt next week.

You do know that the old PF App for mobile phones has been deprecated, right? We ask folks to just use a browser on their phone to visit PF.

No I did not know that, but the PF app for (android) mobile is not convenient, specially when it comes to writing ##\LaTeX##. However, it would be useful if there's an app on Windows 11.

Curiously, I can't preview LaTeX commands anymore. Let me send this message to check whether the LaTeX code above with its name compiles.

Addtionally, let me check : ##\dfrac{a}{b}+\dfrac{b}{d}=\dfrac{ad+bc}{bd}##.

No, this isn't previewing either, upon clicking the preview button on the top right corner of the message box.

Only way to find out is to post the message.

Curious. My message (post #3) appears with the LaTeX uncompiled in my system browser.

However, it compiles on my android mobile app, as I just checked.

Something must be wrong with my system : Windows 11, 64 bit, Chrome browser.

There are some other current threads in this Feedback forum about the LaTeX issues that we are trying to figure out. Greg is actively working on fixing up the LaTeX engine.

But the PF app for mobile devices has been deprecated for at least a couple years I think.

I can use the mobile app just fine. In fact, my LaTeX compiles there.

I don't know what just happened, the ##\rm{\LaTeX}## just complied for my message above, but not previewing still.

Let's see if it compiles upon posting.

Yes the LaTeX compiles on my Windows 11, but doesn't preview. One should refresh the browser after posting.

Thanks.

The website is PWA so you can add it as a shortcut on your mobile device screens. Not sure about OS desktops.

Does the website have a link?

I asked for a PF app that works on Windows PC (11, 64 bit). Is it available?

Not a Windows app, no.
