Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around a racing scenario involving two bicycles over a distance of 200 meters, focusing on the initial velocities and accelerations of each bicycle. The participants are attempting to determine the time taken for each bicycle to complete the race and identify the winner.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Mathematical reasoning, Problem interpretation

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants are discussing the relevant kinematic equations that relate distance, initial velocity, acceleration, and time. There are inquiries about how to find the times for both bicycles (t1 and t2) and the appropriate formulas to use.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with some participants suggesting looking up kinematic equations and others providing specific equations. There is no explicit consensus on the approach yet, but guidance has been offered regarding the relevant equations to consider.

Contextual Notes

Participants have noted the need for relevant equations and have expressed uncertainty about which formulas to apply in this context. The problem setup includes specific initial velocities and accelerations for both bicycles, which are central to the discussion.

Homework Statement

the case is if two bicycle want to make race for 200 m ,

Bicycle A
Vo1 ( Initial Velocity ) = 50m/s
a ( acceleration ) = 2 m/s2

Bicycle B
Vo1 ( Initial Velocity ) = 0 m/s
a ( acceleration ) = 10 m/s2

how I find the time and who will win the race ,

Please some body tech me :(

Welcome to the PF. The reason we ask you to post the "Relevant Equations" is to help you to understand what equations to look to in order to help you solve this type of problem. What do you think the relevant equations would be? If you're not sure, search at www.wikipedia.com for "kinematic equations", or just look in your textbook.

What is the kinematic equation which relates the disparagement, initial velocity, acceleration and time. Find t1 and t2 and then decide who wins the race?

may i konw the formula to find t1 and t2

Open any textbook and search of set of kinematic equations. And select the proper equation to solve the problem.

s=v0t+1/2*a*t^2

Correct. Now s is same for both. Find t1 and t2.
