SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on astrophotography, specifically capturing the Pleiades star cluster using a new camera setup. The user reported a successful imaging session with only 10 minutes of total integration time, utilizing a 400mm f/2.8 lens. The conversation highlights the transition from a Subaru WRX to a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta as a metaphor for the improved imaging capabilities with the new equipment. Participants express enthusiasm about capturing the nebulosity surrounding the Pleiades, with plans for future imaging sessions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of astrophotography techniques
  • Familiarity with camera settings and integration time
  • Knowledge of optical equipment, specifically 400mm f/2.8 lenses
  • Experience with capturing and processing nebulae images
NEXT STEPS
  • Research advanced astrophotography techniques for capturing nebulosity
  • Learn about post-processing software for enhancing star cluster images
  • Explore different camera models suitable for astrophotography
  • Investigate optimal settings for short integration times in astrophotography
USEFUL FOR

Astrophotographers, hobbyists interested in celestial imaging, and anyone looking to enhance their skills in capturing star clusters and nebulae.

Back up and running! Took this last night, only 10 minutes total integration time- full frame (400/2.8):

And a zoom into the central region (still not 100%, only about 50%)

Still adjusting to the new camera, I feel like I jumped from a Subaru WRX to a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta...

nice one Andy
you are just starting to get the nebulosity

another month and this region will be in my evening sky and I am hoping to reimage the Pleiades and capture some of the blue nebulosity
I haven't been too successful in the past
