Preparation of standard stock solution

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around preparing a standard stock solution from Lyphochek serum, with a protein concentration of 6.8 g/dL. The calculation involves diluting 1.36 mL of serum in a 25 mL volumetric flask, leading to a concentration of approximately 370 mg/dL. Participants question the use of significant figures in the calculation, suggesting that 370 is sufficient for practical purposes. There is also a debate about the use of deciliters (dL) as a unit of measurement, with some expressing a preference for more straightforward units. The primary focus remains on verifying the accuracy of the concentration calculation.

Homework Statement

In this experiment we will create a standard stock solution from lyphochek serum. The concentration of proteins in serum Lyphochek is 6,8 g / dl. Pipette 1.36 mL Lyphochek serum in a 25 mL volumetric flask and dilute with physiological water. Calculate the standard stock solution concentration that you will make.

Homework Equations

c=n/v[/B]

The Attempt at a Solution

6,8 g/dl = 0,068 g/mL
0,068 g/mL x 1,36 mL = 0,09248 g / 25 mL = 0,0036992 g/mL
369,92 mg/ dl is the answer

is this answer correct ?? [/B]

Logic is OK, but where did you got so many significant figures from?

Significant figures doesn't really matter here I think

thank you for your answer

370 is all you'll ever need.
Are you forced to use horrible, unnecessary dL units?

Not really . I just wanted to know if my calculation was correct or not

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
