Purely anecdotal but mine burned out.

Mine too!
Probably best to have it turned off when you are not watching it. These things are mostly cheaply produced and should be treated accordingly. There may be high quality versions available - perhaps from theatrical lighting suppliers who have to sell stuff that works for ever.

My question is: although we know that the average speed in this case is the harmonic mean of the two speeds, is it also possible to state that the average speed over this 2L-kilometer stretch can be obtained as a weighted average of the two speeds?
