AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the proper orientation of wedge mechanical seals in vacuum applications. Participants emphasize the importance of consulting the manufacturer for specific recommendations, as the seller on Alibaba lacks detailed information. There is a consensus that Alibaba functions as a reseller, similar to platforms like Amazon or eBay. Identifying the actual brand and manufacturer of the seals is crucial for obtaining accurate guidance. Proper orientation is essential for the effective performance of the seals in vacuum conditions.

TL;DR Summary
Hello all,

I will use two 59U-25 ca-sic-ptfe wedge mechanical seals, in a top mounted, low speed (14rpm) mixer. Solvent heated to 100 celsius, -900mbar vacuum applied. So, steam will be in contact with the seal. I was wondering, how is the right way to install these?

Back to back or tandem?

Thanks!

I believe Alibaba is just a reseller, like Amazon or eBay. What is the brand of the seals? Who is the manufacturer? That is who you need to ask.

Here's a video by “driving 4 answers” who seems to me to be well versed on the details of Internal Combustion engines. The video does cover something that's a bit shrouded in 'conspiracy theory', and he touches on that, but of course for phys.org, I'm only interested in the actual science involved. He analyzes the claim of achieving 100 mpg with a 427 cubic inch V8 1970 Ford Galaxy in 1977. Only the fuel supply system was modified. I was surprised that he feels the claim could have been...
