Can a Custom Radial Fan Lift a Human-Transporting VTOL Drone?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

This discussion centers on the feasibility of using a custom-made radial fan to lift a human-transporting VTOL drone designed to carry loads between 150-200 kg. The original poster seeks insights on achieving sufficient thrust with radial fans instead of conventional propellers. However, due to liability concerns associated with human transport, the forum moderators have closed the thread, limiting further assistance on this project.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of thrust generation principles in aerodynamics
  • Knowledge of VTOL drone design and engineering
  • Familiarity with radial fan mechanics and performance metrics
  • Awareness of safety and liability regulations in drone operations
NEXT STEPS
  • Research thrust calculations for radial fans in drone applications
  • Explore alternative propulsion systems for VTOL drones
  • Investigate regulatory requirements for human-transporting drones
  • Study case studies of successful VTOL drone designs
USEFUL FOR

Aerospace engineers, drone developers, and anyone involved in the design and regulation of human-transporting UAVs will benefit from this discussion.

due to a design issue I'm trying to figur out whether i can get enough thrust to lift a 150-200 kg
using some costume made radial fan instead of the usual propellers for a little vtol drone I'm willing to produce.
any comment will be much appreciate.
Thanks.

Welcome to the PF.

What kind of loads will this drone be carrying?

I was afraid of that. For liability reasons, we won't be able to help you with this project. Thread is closed.
