SUMMARY

The discussion centers on a graduate-level Radiobiology class utilizing the book "Radiation Biology: A Handbook for Teachers and Researchers" (ISBN: 0781741513), recognized as a foundational text in the field. The course is taught by an MD specializing in radiation biology within the physics department. The participant, with a PhD in nuclear physics and limited microbiology background, seeks recommendations for supplementary literature to enhance their understanding of the subject.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic microbiology concepts
  • Familiarity with radiation biology principles
  • Knowledge of graduate-level physics
  • Experience with academic research methodologies
NEXT STEPS
  • Research additional texts on radiation biology, such as "Radiobiology for the Radiologist"
  • Explore online resources and forums dedicated to medical physics
  • Investigate current research papers in radiation biology for advanced insights
  • Learn about radiation safety protocols in medical imaging
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for graduate students in physics or medical fields, researchers in radiation biology, and professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge of radiobiology and its applications in medical physics.

I will be sitting in on some lectures on Radiobiology being taught down the road from me. They will be using https://www.amazon.com/dp/0781741513/?tag=pfamazon01-20 which I have found is considered the "bible" for radiation biology. The class is a graduate level class taught out of the physics department by an MD who does research in radiation biology.

Does anyone have any suggestions of other books to use as a supplement or replacement?

My background: A single microbiology class as an undergrad and a PhD in physics (nuclear).

Cheers.
