AI Thread Summary
Recent reports of inappropriate posts may be rejected after Mentor discussions, leading to automated responses that can feel unsatisfactory. The forum encourages members to report issues, as it is better to report than to overlook potential problems. The moderation team can easily clear reports that require no action, preventing issues from escalating. Suggestions include changing the canned response to better reflect the situation. Overall, the discussion highlights the importance of reporting while acknowledging the limitations of automated messaging.

"Unfortunately your recent report was rejected:" these are NOT literary submissions, they are FYIs/PSAs/other; no fortune good, bad, or other to be attached.

We always value reports from our members, but sometimes after a Mentor discussion, we reject a report and do not do anything with the reported post.

It is unfortunate that the forum software automatically generates that “unfortunately” note… but it does.

Maybe change the canned message. Change "was rejected" to "has been determined to receive no action at this time."

On a more serious note...
If in doubt, it is better to report than not to report. A report that turns out to require no action is cleared with one mouse click in the moderation UI, no big deal. But if something is not reported then we may not notice it until it has festered, and then the cleanup will be a lot more work.

Can we have Haiku?

Your report was read
Then the Mentors discussed it:
No action needed

That's indeed a bit unfortunate wording.

Though for the rare cases I report something (well, sometimes I just report myself o0)) I usually get some personal comment too, with a few words of explanation. So maybe you were just out of luck fortune.
But I understand that such answer is a luxury.
