SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the evaluation of robotics simulators, specifically highlighting RoboLogix as the premier choice for 3D simulations and debugging. Users report that RoboLogix excels in tool center point (TCP) calculations and offers a user-friendly scripting language, making it superior to alternatives like Microsoft Robotics Studio. The simulator has proven effective for applications involving 5-axis Fanuc LR200 robots, particularly in palletizing tasks. RoboLogix is available for purchase through Logic Design Inc. in North America and directly from RoboLogix's website.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of 3D robotics simulations
  • Familiarity with tool center point (TCP) calculations
  • Knowledge of scripting languages used in robotics
  • Experience with robotic systems, specifically Fanuc LR200
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the features of RoboLogix for advanced 3D simulations
  • Explore the capabilities of Microsoft Robotics Studio for comparison
  • Learn about scripting languages applicable to robotics programming
  • Investigate additional robotics simulators for specific use cases
USEFUL FOR

Robotics engineers, automation specialists, and developers involved in programming and simulating robotic systems, particularly those focused on palletizing and welding applications.

I am looking for a good robotics simulator. I have heard that RoboLogix is useful for 3D simulations such as tool center point calculations and debugging of programs written using scripting languages. Are there any other robotics simulators out there?

For the money, RoboLogix is by far the best robotics simulator on the market. If you are already using it, you are better off to stick with it. You can try Microsoft Robotics Studio, but it is very cumbersome in comparison to RoboLogix. We started using RoboLogix about six months ago with our 5-axis Fanuc LR200 and it works really good. The palletizing function is excellent and it provides very accurate TCP calculations. I really like the scripting language as well - much easier than ABB or Kawasaki.

Thanks for the information. I am definitely looking for a simulator that will allow me to write my own robotics programs and then test them. We do a lot of palletizing with robots at the company where I work, and tool center point calculations are very useful for some of the welding processes that we perform. Do you know who sells RoboLogix?
