AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the membrane structures of various cellular organelles. Key points include that the nucleus, chloroplasts, and mitochondria are surrounded by double membranes, while the nucleolus, chromatin, ribosomes, cilia, and flagella lack membranes. The smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi body, central vacuole, lysosomes, and peroxisomes are all enclosed by single membranes. It is clarified that cilia and flagella, while not membrane-bound, are extensions of the plasma membrane. The conversation also confirms that peroxisomes are indeed bound by a single membrane. A reference link to further information on organelles is provided for additional context.

Nucleus - Double membrane
Nucleolus- no membrane
Chromatin- no membrane
Nuclear Envelope - Double membrane
Smooth/Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum -single Membrane
Golgi Body- single Membrane
Central Vacuole- single Membrane
Lysosomes - single Membrane
Chloroplasts - Double membrane
Mitochondria - Double membrane
Ribosomes -no membrane
Cilia-No membrane
Flagellum- No membrane
Am I right?

Looks good to me, though I'm not sure about cilia and flagella. Both are not separated from the cytoplasm by a membrane, but they are structures on the plasma membrane, which is a single membrane.

CIlia/ flagella are encased by the cell membrane (lipid bilayer).

I've been reading a bunch of articles in this month's Scientific American on Alzheimer's and ran across this article in a web feed that I subscribe to. The SA articles that I've read so far have touched on issues with the blood-brain barrier but this appears to be a novel approach to the problem - fix the exit ramp and the brain clears out the plaques. https://www.sciencealert.com/new-alzheimers-treatment-clears-plaques-from-brains-of-mice-within-hours The original paper: Rapid amyloid-β...
