Discussion Overview

The thread discusses a series of mathematical equations presented in a puzzle format, where participants are asked to find missing numbers based on unconventional operations. The scope includes problem-solving and exploratory reasoning related to patterns in arithmetic operations.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants propose that the equations follow a non-standard set of operations, suggesting that traditional arithmetic rules do not apply.
  • One participant attempts to derive a pattern by applying specific operations to the numbers, such as using multiplication and division in unconventional ways.
  • Another participant emphasizes the need for showing work or attempts when asking for help, indicating a preference for a more structured approach to problem-solving.
  • A later reply introduces a philosophical perspective on the nature of mathematical definitions and their implications for interpreting the equations.
  • One participant expresses uncertainty about their calculations and seeks assistance in verifying their approach.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the methods used to solve the equations, and multiple competing views regarding the interpretation of the operations remain evident throughout the discussion.

Contextual Notes

Some assumptions about the operations and their definitions are not explicitly stated, leading to potential ambiguity in the interpretations of the equations. The discussion reflects a variety of approaches without resolving the underlying mathematical principles.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in mathematical puzzles, unconventional problem-solving methods, or those exploring the philosophical aspects of mathematics may find this discussion engaging.

1) if 11+35=128 , 9-25=76 , 5*50=250 , 40/8=?

2)if 5+6= 29 , 3+4=10 , 10/8=50 , 9-64 = ??

i wait your answer ...

You need to post some work, or some attempt when asking for help on questions like this.

I think I'm going to say, "An inconsistent system proves all propositions." rather than "Without definitions, this is meaningless.". It's a sort of a Rorschach test for mathematical realists vs. formalists.

please ... i need your help
