South Africa set to get a nuclear power plant funded by Russia

In summary, South Africa and Russia have signed a cooperation deal for the former to get a nuclear power plant with a production capacity of up to 9.6 GW by 2030. The plant will be based on Russian technology and is expected to cost $10 billion. This is enough to supply about 1/3 of the country's electricity and will mostly be supplied by materials and construction from South Africa. This deal is seen as a step towards nuclear power for South Africa.
