Static and Dynamic torque of a gearbox

Click For Summary
To calculate the static and dynamic torque of a right angle worm gearbox, one must consider factors such as the gearbox's design, gear ratios, and the materials used. Static torque is typically determined by the maximum load the gearbox can handle without movement, while dynamic torque accounts for the forces during operation. Knowing these torque values is crucial for ensuring the gearbox operates efficiently and avoids damage under load. Understanding the torque characteristics also aids in selecting the appropriate gearbox for specific applications. Accurate torque calculations help in optimizing performance and longevity of the gearbox.

A customer of ours called and is asking for the static and dynamic torque of a right angle worm gearbox, how would I calculate this? Secondly why would this need to be known?

Thank you to all of those who reply.

Have you ever watched a"worm" being turned by the driven gear?

Had my central air system checked when it sortta wasn't working. I guess I hadn't replaced the filter. Guy suggested I might want to get a UV filter accessory. He said it would "kill bugs and particulates". I know UV can kill the former, not sure how he thinks it's gonna murder the latter. Now I'm finding out there's more than one type of UV filter: one for the air flow and one for the coil. He was suggesting we might get one for the air flow, but now we'll have to change the bulb...
