SUMMARY

The discussion revolves around solving a homework problem related to trussed frameworks, specifically focusing on eccentric connections and their impact on member axial forces. The user has successfully tackled parts a, b, and d of the assignment but seeks assistance with parts c and e. It is confirmed that eccentric connections do not significantly alter the axial forces in members, and for chord bending, a pinned-pinned beam model of 6 meters is recommended, with the force applied 25 mm from one end.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of trussed frameworks and their components
  • Knowledge of static analysis principles
  • Familiarity with beam bending theory
  • Experience with structural engineering calculations
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the effects of eccentric connections in truss analysis
  • Learn about static analysis techniques for trussed structures
  • Explore beam bending calculations and assumptions
  • Review structural engineering software tools for analysis
USEFUL FOR

Students in structural engineering, civil engineers working with trussed frameworks, and anyone involved in static analysis of structures.

Homework Statement

The attached pdf shows the whole problem. I have a deadline of Wednesday for this and am absolutely stuck!

The Attempt at a Solution

I have figured out parts a, b, and d. I was wondering whether anyone can help or point me in the right direction with regards to parts c and e.

for part c, I think that it isn't too complicated but I just don't know what to do with the eccentric connections.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

The eccentric connections won't change the member axial forces much. For chord bending, you can assume a pinned pinned beam 6 m long with a force equal to the perpendicular component of the diagonal member force, applied 25 mm from one end.

Thanks for that PhanthomJay, I was thinking along those lines, just needed someone to back me up. Will give it a proper go now!
